My opinion on medical imaging
Posted by Dan Burton on February 25, 2008
Good afternoon friends.
I am sure you join me in my belief that medical imaging is an overall cost-saver for patients and the health care system in general because it results in fewer complications, earlier detection, shorter hospital stays, and better pain management. In fact, along with my colleague Representative Elijah Cummings of Maryland, I am spearheading an effort in Congress to focus attention and resources on the challenge of developing better diagnostic imaging tools for detection of prostate cancer. And like many of my colleagues, I am deeply concerned about maintaining sufficient Medicare payments for physicians’ imaging services.
